How To Twist Hair into Rope Braids {Photo Tutorial}

 

This can be done with wet or dry hair and can be twisted to the bottom like a french braid or done with just a portion of the hair and then pinned back.  (Note the changes in expression of my victim model.)

Announcing... K-Cup Crafts!

I love coffee.  More than the average person, I think.  It all started about a year ago when Hubs came home with a Keurig.  Since then I've been known to describe my day by how many cups; e.g. "Oh god, it's definitely gonna be a three-cupper."  Life for me is all around better when there is coffee to be had, yet every time I pop a K-cup in the machine I feel a pang of guilt at how wasteful they are!  I feel like the convenience of them isn't worth the damage and waste. 

For months now I've been trying to think of ways to re-use them.  I even googled "K-cup crafts" and found like 10 blogs dedicated to saving and reusing K-cups in a crafty way, but ALL of them had only one blog post saying something along the lines of "I hate the waste of K-cups and decided to start a blog showing all the crafts you can do with them."  and then NOTHING!  So I dug deep into my {mommy mush} brain and found quite a few ideas.  The first one I did was a SMASH!  The kids absolutely love it!

The Perfect Summer Dress {Make it}

I'm a huge fan of re-purposing clothing.  When an item from my wardrobe gets tired and I find myself not wearing it, I think about ways that I can reuse it.  A sexy silk top can easily be turned into a sassy pillow.  A skirt that has seen better days can be hacked into a cute top for one of my girls.  A sweater that has accidentally been shrunk (hubbbby!) can be chopped down into a pair of cute toddler legwarmers and a matching vest.  I love bringing new life to something that might otherwise be headed to dumpsville, so when my friend Kate approached me asking for my expertise, I was PUMPED!

The Dilemma:

During their annual spring cleaning, both Kate and hubby Marc decided to pare down the items in their closet.  They decided to make a pile of items that haven't worn in over a year.  To Marc's shock he had over 20 dress shirts alone that had gone unworn!  (Way more than Kate's 12!)  Since most of Marc's dress shirts were in great condition she felt bad throwing them out and was wondering if there was a way to re-purpose them.  I practically jumped all over her!

Summer Headbands

Summer is upon us and my frizz is out of control.  I love headbands, but for some reason they never seem to fit my head.  They either squeeze me to death or they slip off every 10 minutes.  I decided to make some.  I experimented with a few different designs and found a couple that were PERFECT!  Read on to find out how to make your own!
