Diy Handbag {& a hint of what's coming!}

Since I know my mom has already checked the blog for the day, it's safe to pop this one up!  This is a handbag I made for my momma for Mother's Day.

 

I saw this delicious fabric whilst perusing the aisles of Joann's and I knew it had to be mine.  I wound up buying 5 yards of it because it's so pretty I want to see it every day of my life and because it was on sale for $2.99/ yard!  It's slightly thicker than your typical cotton fabric and it has a nice texture to it.

 

I lined the handbag with a silk lining and I threw in a few pockets.  I figured this would make a great beach tote, so it only needed to be big enough for keys, phone, water, sunscreen, and KINDLE!  Although I originally planned it to have a zip closure, I wound up using a magnetic snap instead.

 

Even though I created it for casual beach use, I wanted to make sure I left the option open for mom to use it everyday.  Purse feet will help to keep her bag looking its best for a long time to come!

 

The purse handles were also from JoAnn's.  I really liked the style of them and they go perfectly with the print.

 

 

Total cost was around $20 and it took about 2.5 hours!
