I found these matching silk skirts at Savers the other day. They were only $5.99 each! Although they were both girl's size 8 and my girls are size 6 and 12-18 mos I knew I could hack them and make them work for matching easter dresses. I love having my kids match or coordinate for holidays, but having three kids it is getting increasingly difficult to do so. Finding identical silk skirts was a SIGN!
Read on to see the transformation!
On Aislin's skirt, I removed the side zipper, shortened the thick waistband to a more typical skirt band, and threw in an elastic. DONE!
Marlee's was more involved. I removed the side zipper, cut the arm holes, added the zipper to the back, and then added the straps (made from Aislin's waist band scraps)
So for $12 and 2 hours of my time I got...
A super cute skirt, prefect for twirling...
and an adorable dress tailored just for my little minna...
The best part?
(Well, aside from the fact that they match.)
They were $12!!!
If grammy decides to sneak them chocolate ("because that's what grammies are for...") I won't have to chase them around the house with napkins and/or a stain pen!!! Yesssss!
